Are you an experienced HIV cure researcher who would love to proudly say “Ich bin ein Berliner” — and actually mean it?
Join our team for a fully funded, up to 24-month research stay at Charité University Hospital in Berlin, Germany!
Prof. Christian Gaebler has been selected as a Henriette Herz Scout by the Alexander von Humboldt (AvH) Foundation, a role that enables him to directly award Humboldt Fellowships to up to three outstanding international scientists, bringing exceptional talent to our dynamic research team in Berlin.
The Humboldt Fellowship is globally renowned, offering researchers entry into a prestigious international network of excellence. AvH fellows benefit from career-long support, rich collaborative opportunities, and comprehensive assistance for international scientists and their families relocating to Germany.
We’re currently looking for brilliant researchers in the HIV cure field — from basic laboratory science to cutting-edge clinical research. Whether you prefer “block and lock,” “kick and kill,” or other creative approaches, we welcome your expertise and passion.
At the Department of Infectious Diseases at Charité, one of the world’s leading hospitals, you’ll thrive in a vibrant, young, and collaborative research environment (we were just awarded a prize for best research environment 😉). You’ll have access to extensive networks of top-tier research labs and clinical experts. We are proud members of the EU2CURE network and hold prestigious ERC funding.
Our ongoing projects include studies on recent HIV cure cases (the Berlin Patients), clinical trials with broadly neutralizing antibodies (bNAbs) for HIV and Hepatitis B, detailed HIV reservoir characterization, and genomic mapping of the HIV provirus.

We can’t wait to welcome you to Berlin!
